Joel X Eleanor love wearing matching band t-shirts, pointing out bad key changes in other people's songs, and heavily layering harmonies and distorted guitars in their own. They are on a mission to bring sparkle and melody to modern alternative rock.
They met at their crimefighting day jobs, spent lockdown together refining what a good song should sound like, wrote about 4 albums, and they're finally releasing one in the fall of 2026. On stage they play with their drummer Flora (who is most definitely not a football hooligan).
They're both autistic and still trying to make sense of the world. Making music helps.
A brief history
Joel and Eleanor met in Cardiff in 2019. They spent the Covid years living together, writing music and falling in love. Finding the Cardiff music scene dried up after 3 years of suffocating lockdown, in 2022 they moved to Kent (aka London) and formed a rock band called 'Sweet Anna', which gained a small cult following but still struggled with bandmates constantly changing or having conflicting schedules. In July 2025, Sweet Anna disbanded. Now Joel and Eleanor are the pop/rock duo aptly named: Joel X Eleanor. The duo's first single, 'How Long', was released on 17 September 2025.
